FOR
CONCERNED COMMUNITY MEMBERS

IMG_4725.jpeg

It takes a village to prevent substance use/misuse in youth. While parents and educators may work more closely with youth on an individual level, we also need individuals to look at the big picture and work to establish programs and laws for a drug-free community.

In counties and communities across Tennessee, substance use prevention coalitions are working to reduce dependence on harmful and potentially lethal substances such as prescription drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. These local efforts, funded by the state of Tennessee since 2008, help get the word out about the dangers and consequences of substance use. If you are a concerned community member looking to find ways you can help prevent substance use in your community consider becoming a member of a local drug prevention coalition.
